Adoption Process
Please read our website to ensure your understanding of our adoption process.
CONTACT US FOR A “PET” ONLY AKK!
- NOTE: All puppies will be placed on a “Pet Only” (spay/neuter) contract, which means new owners WILL NOT be allowed to breed their AKK.
- We WILL NOT allow adoption of our AKK babies for the purpose of breeding.
- If you are a breeder of another breed, do NOT contact us for an AKK as there are some very dishonest people in the world who have adopted an AKK from another breeder and are using that AKK to cross breed, and we prefer to have no part in it. Thus, the largest reason why we will not place an AKK with someone who is presently breeding another breed.
- We prefer not to ship any of our AKK outside of the United States.
Applicant Screening:
- We require a full questionnaire to be filled out before any decisions are made.
- If you are NOT 25-years-old or over, do not have established credit and a major credit card, you may want to consider finding another breed. Owning a pet is not an inexpensive venture and is one not to be taken lightly. Therefore, you may have to get your parents to fill out the questionnaire and if so, that person is the one we will do business with. We reserve the right to place a puppy with someone of any age, however, as of lately, there have been issues with placing puppies with those who have no credit and seek to have the breeder cover vet care. We cannot do this for anyone.
- We screen applicants intently with our questionnaire and we conduct phone interviews after several email communications are sent and received. We have turned down several people for one reason or another with whom we did not feel comfortable with allowing an adoption to transpire. We are very selective in our process and we hope you understand our process and our standards.
- We encourage those interested in this breed to do their own research, visit a breeder, (if possible), and ask a lot of questions. There is a “AKK FAQ” button on our home page bar that you can take a look at, and we have answered all of the same questions people have asked me. Remember, having a pet is a lifetime commitment and one that should never be taken lightly just because they are cute, cuddly, furry and smaller than their ancestors.
Pricing:
- Many people take the time to fill out a questionnaire before asking about pricing. It is a waste of time for those who are merely interested to do this. And, it is a waste of our time to read and review the application if someone is only interested in making a decision to adopt an AKK based on pricing. Therefore, we will say there are some breeders who place their AKK up for adoption ranging from $1,500.00 to over $3,500.00. We are in the “near” middle of this range. We hold the right to make the decision on pricing.
- There are also scammers out there who will steal photographs off a breeders website of their AKK, create an ad for an available AKK, and actually this scammer does not have that AKK available. These scammers list the AKK at a price of $400 and some may list them at a little more.
- Those who are interested contact another breeder and ask that breeder to come down on pricing. We will not come down on our pricing and there are no price negotiations.
- We require a $500.00 DEPOSIT to hold a puppy if we have one available and this price is put toward the FINAL PURCHASE PRICE of the AKK.
- That said, now that you know the range of pricing, if you are TRULY interested and if we have an AKK available puppies, then please know you MUST fill out a questionnaire before a decision regarding the adoption can be determined. THIS IS ALSO NOT NEGOTIABLE! Filling out a questionnaire helps us to get to know you and your family.
Pet Travel:
- Keep in mind if you do not travel to our home to pick up your AKK, and your request is to have him or her shipped to your location, then the adoption price does NOT include shipping, a health certificate ($75.00), or a crate/kennel ($65.00).
- ALL the above mentioned fees are extra and normally these “extras” can go well over $400.00 depending on your location.
- UPDATE ON SHIPPING COSTS: The airline fees have gone up and that means shipping prices have gone up to fly a puppy to another state. We charge what the airline charges us to fly a pup and we do not do COD.
- There will also be a $15.00 delivery fee if we have to take a puppy to the airport.
- Please take the time to read the information provided on the “PET TRAVEL” page on this site for more detailed information.
We will be happy to answer any additional questions which are not answered within the pages of our website.
